On the 5th floor of the new WonderWoods development in the center of Utrecht up architecture created a surprising and uplifting workspace for the Eurail B.V. organization. Eurail B.V. advocates for the positive impact travelling can have in the world. It brings together more than 35 railway carriers and ferry companies to offer borderless European train travel across 33 countries. With a Eurail or Interrail Pass, travelers are empowered to go one stop further from what they already know, to dive deeper into any stop they come across and absorb the diversity Europe has to offer. ‘Let curiosity take you places’ up architecture embraced the identity of Eurail B.V. in an intuitive office design with the concept of ‘flaneur, the aesthetics of traveling’ in which users are invited to casually discover and experience the new home of Eurail B.V. Forwards from the entrance an attractive route connects the generous social space, outside terraces, a diversity of formal and informal workplaces, nooks, innovative and flexible meeting rooms, wintergardens and a comfortable and a peaceful concentration workspace. The design incorporates elements of European architecture and references to the diversity of natural landscapes changing throughout the journeys made by the Eurail customers. Making maximum use of the architecture of the distinctive WonderWoods building, each space in the new Eurail B.V. office has a unique quality with beautiful views over Utrecht, soft toned natural gradients, colourful textured carpets, sustainable upcycled finishes and locally sourced re-use furniture. up architecture has sought a harmonious balance between the city of Utrecht, WonderWood’s green outside terraces and wintergardens by extending the sustainable approach of the building to the interior by using biophilic design principles to improve wellbeing, health and productivity.
