up architecture is selected to design a sustainable interior for the new accelerator building Matrix One developed by Matrix Innovation Center at the Amsterdam Science Park campus. up architecture will collaborate on this project with world known architecture studio MVRDV. Matrix One will house high-tech research, technology and life science companies and consists of 13.000m2 flexible laboratory and office space divided over six floors. The University of Amsterdam will house its new Sustainalab in Matrix One. Within the inspiring casco designed by MVRDV up architecture will work on the atrium, restaurant, meeting areas and the open and transparent stairwell connecting the social space on the ground floor with the rooftop bar at the fifth floor. The new interior for Matrix One is set to complete the integral approach and sustainability ambitions of this innovative project in it’s focus on environmentally friendly materials, dismountable construction, re-use and future flexibility. Matrix One targets BREEAM excellent and WELL gold certification. Matrix One is currently under construction and will be completed summer 2022.
